Ahoj!

PetraMy name is Petra and I was born and raised in Bratislava, Slovakia (former Czechoslovakia). To some, I am sister, daughter, grand daughter, but to most a friend or, as I’d like to think, a kick-ass front-end developer.

I grew up and spent most of my early life in Europe but since 1999, somehow US became my home. Until summer of 2012, I mainly lived in Portland, OR where I went from being an au-pair to international student who has later received Bachelor of Science in Multimedia & Web Design from The Art Institute of Portland, and later even became a US Citizen. Nowadays, I get to call Boston my home and couldn’t be happier about it. The huge hockey fan in my is ecstatic being able to cheer for Bruins, with my fellow Slovak Zdeno Chára as their captain. If nothing else, I need to teach those Bostonians how to pronounce his name right. I think I’ve given up on up on understanding baseball but am still working on getting into the thing that Americans like to call football.

I’ve always found myself to be very passionate about web industry and living in US seemed to help me get more engaged through conferences I’ve attended or been involved with, and people I’ve met who share similar if not the same passions like me. Feel free to follow me on Twitter or just say hi.

Whenever I travel, like most people, I enjoy taking & sharing pictures on Instagram and Flickr of captured memories of things I’ve seen or people I’ve met. I am also very much a foodie, whether I enjoy trying new places to go and eat, or testing my culinary skills by trying out new recipes in my own kitchen.
