Police search in our neighborhood

Published by petra under General,Personal

What a day yesterday it was, at least somewhat exciting! As I was driving home and was about to enter our street where we live, I see the entrance taped off and a cop in a car blocking on top of it. Well, i figured that I would go around the block and make it in from the other side… But once I got closer in, I noticed that it was blocked of as well. :-(

I was tired and cranky, so I was anxious to get home ASAP. There were so many cops and people standing by, and I had no idea what was going on! A cop came up to me, and after insisting, he let me go through so I could go home.

After I changed, I had to go and find out what was going on. No one didn’t know much, but then I found out that there was an assault on a bus and cops were looking for that person around our neighborhood, since he was armed. You can read more about it at FOX12 site.

They never ended up finding him, and neither our victim… But I got few pics out of all this excitement in North Portland ;-)

Aside that, I heard back from Paul yesterday, who left on Monday to an Air Assault school at the Oregon coast. Apparently after the first day, about 40 people out of about 150 was already sent home after not being able to complete their first day’s obstacle courses. BUT, my honey bunny made it through to the next round. I hope someone will take some pictures so I could share them with you all very soon. ;-)

Video clips from AEA New Orleans 2008

Published by petra under Web Conferences

I just went back to An Event Apart website to see what is new, and came across some short video clips from New Orleans’ conference that I attended back in April. So far there are only three, one from Eric Meyer, Jeffrey Zeldman and Andy Clarke. But according to Jeffrey Zeldman, there will be more… How exciting!

What’s new with me…

Den nato som sla do roboty, no stvrtok a piatok som si vzala volno, aby som mohla zvysok tyzdna stravit s Paulom. ;-) No a v sobotu sa mi nas Matko zenil a bral si nasu Marcelku! Zatial mi poslali dve fotky, no nie nevyzeraju super? Skoda len, ze som na jednej z tych fotiek nemohla byt i ja. :-(

I know that it has been a while since the last time I posted something. Well, Paul made home safely from Georgia, had a great “welcome home” barbecue the next with an amazing turnout of people. People started to show around 3pm and the last group of them left around 1 am. It was more fun than I expected to be. I got some pictures from a friend of ours, Mars, but still need to scan them, so I could upload them to my flickr account. Soon though, I promise!

Then we had Memorial Day, which was a holiday, so it was nice to be able to sleep in some. Next day we spent with my Slovak friend Michaela and Lee babysitting their two youngest kids, while their older brother was getting a heart surgery, which seemed to go very well. I went to work the next day, but took the rest of the week off to spend it with Paul.

Last week we had Paul’s friend Melissa to stay at our house for almost a week with her boyfriend and newborn son, Tryston, while visiting her family. Tryston was so cute that I couldn’t help to come home every day from work and just holding him till it was time to go to bed. ;-) I’ve got plenty of pictures to share on flickr, but here is a sneak peek.

Last Saturday, my cousin Mato was getting married to Marcela. And guess what? I have some pictures to share with you thanks to Marcela, which she just sent me!!! So thank you!
Aren’t they the cutest? Look for yourself! I just wish I could have been there! :-(

Other than that, not much is going on. I had my last dentist appointment yesterday, so I feel like a brand new me. Today I have a Accessibility training all day long, and Paul will be leaving on Monday for another two weeks to another school.

Oh, maybe few updates on a new iPhone G3 that should be coming out on July 11, so I guess it will be time to upgrade… ;-)
